Based in Northumberland, England, Mark Warren has been a member of arch sound scientists Zoviet France for the last 10 years, as well as recording and performing solo as Penumbra. With a keen ear for ambient noise and accidental resonances, Warren's way of listening and creating hurls the improvised, the machine-made and the tightly choreographed into the ultimate slow-motion soundclash. Pulses and programmes marry spontaneous reverberations and effects manipulations as states alter.

As a DJ, Mark's ears veer from subsonic otherness to sub-bass dancehall smash up, battering the decks with a cascade of rock hard junglist breaks and surefire android meltdown. If machines have souls, then this is their roots music.
